A friend of mine has started a side bar on her blog to list 1000 reasons she is thankful. I have decided to take a page from her book (so to speak) and dedicate my whole blog to finding 1000 things that I like about Japan. I’ve lived in Japan since 1989, and had the longest “honeymoon” period of anyone I know – nearly 8 years. (The honeymoon period covers the time when you see everything with stars in your eyes . . . ) So it shouldn’t be too hard to find the first 100 or so things.
But I expect it will take time to find 1000 things. In the meantime I also expect the exercise will sharpen my awareness of aspects of living in Japan that I may have come to take for granted. I also hope it will spur me to greater appreciation for the unique little jewel that is Japan.
